Our smooth salted caramel sauce goes over this easy-to-make banana bundt cake, which makes it look beautiful on a serving tray.
INGREDIENTS
– 3 cups all purpose flour– 2 teaspoons baking soda– 1 teaspoon baking powder– 1 teaspoon salt– 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened– 3/4 cup granulated sugar– 3/4 cup packed brown sugar– 2 egg– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract– 4 large extra ripe bananas, smashed– 1 cup buttermilk– 1 cup caramel sauce, homemade
INSTRUCTIONS
Pre-heat the oven to 350. Grease and flour a large bundt pan or use Baker's Joy flour-based cooking spray. Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Step 1
Mix butter and sugar with an electric mixer. The mixture should be lighter in colour and frothy after 5 minutes at medium-high speed, scraping the bowl regularly.
Step 2
Beat each egg carefully after adding it. Mix in vanilla extract. Add bananas and mix on low.
Step 3
Add half the flour mixture to the mixer and beat low. Add buttermilk and beat again, scraping basin.
Step 4
Beat the remaining flour mixture on low until just incorporated, then increase to medium and beat for 1 minute until smooth and well combined.
Step 5
Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 60–65 minutes, foiling the top at 40 minutes. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Step 6
After 10-15 minutes, loosen the edges and place the cake onto a cooling rack to finish cooling.
