The Best Basil Pesto Pasta Recipe

Instead of using store-bought sauces, make the best basil pesto quickly and from scratch. It goes great with your favorite noodles.


– 2 1/2 cups fresh basil leaves, washed and dried thoroughly – 2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese – 3 cloves garlic, roughly chopped – 2 Tablespoons pine nuts, toasted and cooled – 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt – 1/8 teaspoon black pepper – 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil


Put the basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, garlic, toasted pine nuts, kosher salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender and blend or process until smooth. 

Step 1

Pulse the items together until they are well mixed.

Step 2

Pour the olive oil into the food processor or blender while it's running. Keep mixing, scraping down the sides as needed, until the pesto is smooth. 

Step 3

Taste it and add salt and pepper to taste. You can serve it right away or put it in a sealed container and put it in the fridge until you're ready to serve.
