Best Black Forest Cake Recipe

Rich chocolate layers, cherries, cherry liqueur, and whipped cream make Black Forest Cake. Its rich flavor makes each bite delicious.

Preheat oven to 350°F.Coat four 8- or 9-inch circular cake pans with cocoa powder. Prepare bottoms with parchment. Set aside.

Use a paddle-attached stand mixer to combine all dry ingredients. Mix slowly.

Use a hand mixer to whisk eggs, oil, buttermilk, espresso, vanilla, cherry liqueur, and melted chocolate in a medium bowl. Add boiling water slowly without cooking eggs.

Stir wet ingredients in dry basin for 2-3 minutes on medium speed. Thin batter.

Fill pans evenly with batter. In the preheated oven, bake the cakes for 25–30 minutes until a tester comes out mainly clean.

Finish cakes on wire racks after 10 minutes in pans.Stir sugar and water in a small pot over medium heat to boil.Simmer 1 minute, then add cherries and liqueur. Cool completely before using.

Add cold cherries to syrup basin. When assembling cake, beat cream. In a chilled basin, whisk cream and sugar to firm peaks. Cool 30 minutes.

Flattening chocolate. Place one chocolate cake layer on whipped cream on a cake stand. Apply thick cherry syrup after cooling.

Apply 1 cup cold whipped cream evenly. Gently press 1 cup cherries into whipped cream. Repeat with remaining layers.

Ice the outside and top with whipped cream after baking. Pipe rosettes and whipped cream on the cake as needed. Put maraschino cherries on rosettes.
