Crispy Baked Hoisin Chicken Wings Recipe

I rarely select “baked” over “deep-fried.” Ovens cook chicken wings crispier than oil. This 50-minute dish with five ingredients will leave you licking your fingertips.

INGREDIENTS

– 2 1/2 lbs chicken wings, tips removed, drumettes and flats separated – 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil – 1 Tablespoon Chinese 5-Spice or other Asian spice blend – 1/3 cup hoisin sauce – 1/4 cup blackberry jam – Sliced scallions, for serving – Sesame seeds, for serving

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Wash and dry wings and drumettes. Transfer to a large bowl and coat with vegetable oil and spice blend. Place wings in a single layer on baking racks without touching.

Step 1

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, turning the pan over every 15 minutes, until the food is fully cooked. Take the wings out of the oven and put them in a big bowl.

Step 2

Mix hoisin and blackberry jam in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it's warm.

Step 3

Add sauce to wings and toss them around until they are well covered. Add onions and sesame seeds as a garnish. Serve right away.
