Easy Churro Bites Recipe

This quick, fresh, and easy recipe for Easy Churro Bites will keep you from having to buy frozen treats.

INGREDIENTS

– 1/2 cup plus 2 Tablespoons sugar, divided – 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon – 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more for frying – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 1 cup water – 1 cup all-purpose flour

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix ½ cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl and leave aside.  Mix 2 teaspoons sugar, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, ½ teaspoon salt, and 1 cup water in a small nonstick saucepan over medium-high heat.

Step 1

The mixture should boil, then remove from heat and add flour until a ball forms. Transfer churro dough to an optional star-shaped piping bag. 

Step 2

Attach the deep-fry thermometer to a stockpot over medium-high heat with 4 inches of vegetable oil. Place paper towels on a baking sheet.

Step 3

Pipe the churro dough into 360°F oil and cut it every 1/2-inch with scissors.  Do not overcrowd the pan! Fry the churro bites until golden brown on all sides, then move them to the paper towel-lined baking sheet with a slotted spoon. 

Step 4

Roll the churro bites in cinnamon-sugar after draining them on paper towels for 2 minutes. 

Step 5

Return the oil to 360°F between batches of frying, draining, and coating the remaining dough. Serve warm churro bits with your favorite sauces.
