Healthy Apple And Sage Roast Chicken Recipe

With this awesome recipe for Apple and Sage Roast Chicken, you can make a comfort food treat that tastes like fall.


– 1 (4- to 5-pound) roasting chicken – 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter – 1 1/2 Tablespoons minced fresh sage – 2 cloves garlic  – 1 apple, cored and cut into wedge


Heat the oven to 450°F. Mix butter and minced sage in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook butter until melted.

Step 1

Wash the chicken, remove the giblets, and cut the fat. After drying, lay the chicken on a skillet, nonstick sauté pan, or roasting pan.

Brush the chicken with melted sage butter and season it well with salt and pepper. Place apple slices and smashed garlic cloves in the cavity and bind the legs with kitchen thread.

Step 3

Roast the chicken for 1 hour, basting it every 15 minutes with pan juices and melted butter. Tip the pan to gather liquids and ladle them over the chicken.

Step 4

After baking to 165°F, let the chicken rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
