Homemade Sour Cream And Onion Dip Recipe

You only need six easy things to make the best Sour Cream and Onion Dip at home.


– 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil – 2 cups minced onions (white or yellow) – 1/2 teaspoon sugar – 1 1/2 cups sour cream – 2 1/2 teaspoons low sodium soy sauce – 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder


Set the big nonstick sauté pan over medium-low heat and add the oil. When the oil is hot, add the onions, sugar, and a pinch of salt. 

Step 1

Stir the onions often for about 30 minutes, or until they turn golden. Leave the onions to cool after they've been cooked.

Step 2

Bring the sour cream, soy sauce, garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of pepper, and the cooled sautéed onions to a medium-sized bowl. Mix them together. 

Step 3

Wrap the dip in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge until you're ready to serve it.
